The people at Nu-Image proved very cooperative during the making of "Replicant" and allowed me a great deal of freedom of creativity to achieve what I wanted.

The story concept, concerning human cloning is a very topical and controversial issue, which is partly what attracted me to the unique story. It was also interesting and comfortable to work with Jean-Claude again after our first collaboration on "Maximum Risk" several years ago.

He has definitely matured as an actor and I feel that in this movie, he gives the best performance of his career, playing the difficult twin roles of a sinister serial killer and his laboratory-created clone, who like a newborn baby has to learn to walk and talk from scratch.

I think audiences will be surprised by the depth of pathos, comedy and evil Jean-Claude injects into his respective screen characters.

I must also compliment Michael Rooker for giving me a solid performance as the seasoned detective assigned as the clone's guardian and mentor.

Although this movie has its fair share of action pieces, which audiences have come to expect from both Jean-Claude and myself, they should also expect to be surprised by Jean-Claude's convincing double-performance. - Ringo Lam, Director
