Armada 1130 is an oldish laptop that, in my opinion, can be used for light text-processing, web browsing and e-mail checking. It also serves well as a network inspection tool or server console. My sister used this unit for writing documents. The laptop is easily capable of running simple X applications but OpenOffice (v1.1.1) usage is pain due to lag and general slowness. Abiword and Gnumeric are better alternatives in this regard.

Armada 1130 is not a lightweight laptop but it has all the usual ports (of the time) embedded so one does not need to carry a docking station around.

As stated above this is NOT A CHILD'S LAPTOP COMPUTER, however, given the age and with today's standards would be great for a child to learn on no matter what the age of the child (translated Adult Beginner, Aging Parent, Disabled etc) or someone who you might not want to overwhelm with all the bells and whistles on your fast desktop or personal laptop.

Alternately, you can have a machine to play just games. Believe it or not many shareware and old games will not run correctly on today's models (today's models are just too fast for let's say PONG or space invaders (remember that one))?
